She does this in a very realistic way. 'You probably had a conversation about which sex you want to be with (and make your partner happy), how old you are, what you want, and what kind of family you want. What if you never have any of those conversations? What if your current husband had never made those kinds of conversations with you or did those kinds of things?'When I first read Deborah Tanen's, I thought the topic of conversation was too obvious. That the topic was so clearly the topic that we have all had before - it just happened that it was on tape or videotape. If you were never around those conversations or did not make them and they were your subject, then it wasn't really a conversation, but a mere transaction of words.That is why Deborah Tanen does such a good job of highli ghting the problems with that particular method of conversation. By not making that the central focus of the conversation, we do not get to see the difference between real conversations and transactions of words. When you were young, you might have been surrounded by conversations - but did not think much about the content or intent of those conversations.So, when Deborah Tanen asks the reader to imagine making that conversation, her point is clear. Instead of just seeing the changes between the subject, the reader has to imagine the change that is taking place between the subject. If the subject continues to talk about her time spent with her parents, then she will begin to think about her time spent with her parents and how that will affect her. If she continues to talk about 'her' family and how that affects her then she will begin to see that she is no longer part of the family but separate from it.Deborah Tanen also makes us remember that the subject never actually stops talkin g. It is often hard to see the subject for who she is, and this may make it harder to know when she is only speaking about herself and not about you or about anyone else. If you are able to look past the subject, and the conversation itself, you will be able to see that she has no real interest in you as a person. Her desire is only to talk about herself. And you will see that you, too, want to talk about yourself.Deborah Tanen's goal is to make the topic and the conversation the subject. And she is very successful in doing so. As she writes, 'If you don't think you are good enough to talk about yourself, and you don't care to think about yourself, then you don't want to change.' The result is that you get a whole different experience when you start looking at the subject as a person and not as a subject.Deborah Tanen's lesson in 'Sex Lies and Conversation Cause and Effect Essay Samp' is a lesson in life. She is not asking us to change or lose ourselves in order to survive. The deontological theory claim that certain actions are naturally right or wrong, good or bad, and without regard for its consequences. The theory was derived from philosopher Immanuel Kant in 18th century. The theory states that social workers should always obey the law regardless of the consequences that would follow. It states that the law is the law. Deontologist state that rules, rights, and the laws are commonly guarded and sacred. The theory states that the end does not automatically justify the means, especially if they require breaking an important rule, right, or law. The utilitarian theory states that if given a number of alternatives, you should choose the one that will be of most benefit to the greatest number. Healthier lifestyles supported for tackling vascular risks. Taking the patients quickly to the hospital. Providing assistance for overcoming psychological, physical and communication barriers (2). Phase 4: Ecological and educational assessment Higher awareness of the community regarding stroke can lead to faster treatment and diagnosis and it can significantly reduce the incidences of stroke. Phase 5: Policy and administration assessment The policies for stroke management have been discussed in the relevant articles by the foundation. Phase 6: Implementation Guidelines and recommendations for implementation of the plan have been addressed by the plan and have been well supported by peer research, for local application and proper implementation. Phase 7: Impact / Process and evaluation of outcome Frequency and timing of the evaluation of the process of planning have been considered and areas for further research have been identified. Challenges like improved standards of care and cost savings have been acknowledged and discussed. (3). I have been involved in the consultation of the stroke survivors where I had the opportunity to survey them and study their experiences, upon implementation of the plan and principles. The survey was conducted in a hospital with stroke rehabilitation facilities. According to the basic requirements for the successful implementation of consumer engagement, regular and adequate communication was made in collaboration with the stroke foundation. The stroke patients who had communication issues were also involved in the study and interpreters were employed to facilitate the communication. The focus was much specific as there was proper logistical and financial support for the project. Survey method was chosen as it was inexpensive, gathered quantifiable information and covered a large number of patients. For the survey process, the questions were properly structured with unambiguous and straightforward enquiries. For the patients with literacy issue, verbal interview was arranged where th e pre and post stroke experiences were noted down. Patients who were not available for the survey process were contacted over email or telephone to collect their response. The patients were quite delighted with their response as the stroke foundation successfully managed to control their critical condition by application of the models of stroke management. In Christine BaronÃ¢â¬â¢s essay, Apathetic Students Risk Their Futures, is stated that students arenÃ¢â¬â¢t taking advantage of the opportunities they have by going to school because they are making up excuses and are better off socializing with others. I agree with Christine Baron, some students have become lazy for their school work. However, not all students are being lazy and not doing their work, there are some students that actually care and want to succeed in life therefore they are the ones that are being motivated and have been doing the assignments and homework that the teachers have asked them. But how do we get the other students to be do their work as well? High school is a big change to most students. While some are working after school others are playing sports, and other even have responsibilities at their home. However, that doesnÃ¢â¬â¢t give students an excuse to not do the work that has been assigned to them. Ã¢â¬Å"I had to work until 11 p. m. both nightsÃ¢â¬ , Ã¢â¬Å"I had baseball practiceÃ¢â¬ , Ã¢â¬Å"I was absent again the day you assigned thisÃ¢â¬ , this are some of the excuses that students use when Christine Baron asked her students if had read the reading assignment that was assigned to her class. Sure working until 11 p. m. at night is tiring but students should learn how to manage their time, school should be their number one priority. Also, just because youÃ¢â¬â¢re absent from school doesnÃ¢â¬â¢t mean that your excused from the assignments that you missed, itÃ¢â¬â¢s your responsibility to email your teacher and/or ask your teacher what you missed when you come back to school the next day. In Barons case what had frustrated her was that her students choose Ã¢â¬Å"to give up on homework thatÃ¢â¬â¢s the least bit challengingÃ¢â¬ . Other factors that have gotten in the way with students schoolwork is the social network. Student with their cellphones, laptops, iPods, etc. are choosing to socialize rather than actually take advantage of their spare time. I started reading it, but the phone rangÃ¢â¬ , was one of the other excuses given to Baron. These students are in high school already and its time that they take some responsibility and think about the opportunities they have by going to school. Instead of making up excuses students should just do the work. The challenge that has been presented to some teach ers is Ã¢â¬Å"How can we encourage a lot more kids to care about their educationÃ¢â¬ . In the essay that Baron wrote he states that parents can help with their kids caring of school. With that being said teachers should get together with the parents of those students who are having a hard time to stay focused on their school work. Parents can be a great influence and a lot of help with getting their kids to do the assignment that is being assigned by the teachers. High school is a big change for students, they run into a lot of pressure sometimes even skipping classes which later on leads to skipping school more often than expected, but what these students need to know is that Ã¢â¬Å"caring about their education will benefit them in ways they might not even imagineÃ¢â¬ . The one thing that teacher cannot do is Ã¢â¬Å"dumb downÃ¢â¬ the curriculum, because in the end the students arenÃ¢â¬â¢t receiving any challenging work. Teacher should push the students on challenging work so they can exceed their expectations. Everyone is capable of succeeding but you have to apply some effort into your work. The students that are caring and doing the work that is being asked by their teachers have a greater chance of becoming the person they really want in life, by working in the job field of their choice, and being financially secured.

Contradicting Forces in FrostÃ¢â¬â¢s Ã¢â¬Å"Mending WallÃ¢â¬ In examining the literary career of Robert Frost, one is able to recognize reoccurring themes that appear throughout many of his poems. Frequently, each individual statement corresponds to a designated time period of personal discovery in the life of the poet. While writing his second book, When North of Boston, during the sensitive WW1 era, Frost found solace in writing about a certain human condition. According to Elaine Barry, his work Ã¢â¬Å"focus[ed] [on] the constant tension of opposing elements, which Frost saw as the essence of the human conditionÃ¢â¬ (Barry 1). It is certainly realistic to assume that the reason why Frost wrote using this particular theme is because it comforted him to believe that there are natural contradicting forces in all life experiences. The poem Ã¢â¬Å"Mending WallÃ¢â¬ is open for discussion on many levels of interpretation. To the negligent reader, the poem primarily represents the opposing arguments of two farmers on the subject of property boundaries. Underneath the shallow surface, the poem emerges as a statement about contradictions of human relations through which attitude toward community, property barriers, and wisdom are explained (Meyer 2). FrostÃ¢â¬â¢s statement about the differences between the two men is humorous because he makes it possible for the reader to find disagreement between the actions and intentions of the men involved in this relatively trivial incident (Meyer 3). In the end, Frost leaves the conflict unresolved. He neither provides outward moral to the reader nor insight into the Ã¢â¬Å"something there is that doesnÃ¢â¬â¢t love a wall.Ã¢â¬ By doing this, his effect on the reader evokes deeper contemplation because the situation is a realistic human experience (Barry 4). This paper will discuss how the United States joined the war and how it participated in the war. Participation of United States in World War One Since Wilson was a peaceful man, he speedily announced that the United States was neutral in the war, and that it was to remain that way. However, it became very hard and complex for the United States to follow this path of neutrality. In this regard, the Americans could not ignore the development of the war even before joining it officially1. Even though the United States did not join the war immediately it commenced, it is evident that it had prepared for the war early in 1914. In this case, one of the largest ammunition merchants based in the United States, Bethlehem Steel, ordered millions of armoury from the British government. These included millions of weaponry shells, in addition to ten 500-ton submarines. Bethlehem continued with the construction of such alien vessels though they were against the law2. This armoury development continued through to 1915, where the U.S. armoury industry continued to develop, with support form western allied nations. In the meantime, Germany and Britain acted against the operations of the United States, which greatly angered the then president of the United States, Woodrow Wilson3. ... This is one of the operations that the Germans carried out in which president Wilson highly tolerated the Germans and acted with much patience and restraint. Most people believed that the president would declare war on Germany due to its constant attacks5. The Germans continued upsetting the Americans and on January 31, 1917, they resumed unhampered submarine conflict. This operation by the Germans saw the sinking of several U.S vessels, which angered Wilson further. Due to this, President Woodrow pushed for a declaration of war against Germany on April 2, 1917. This was the first time during the war period that United States officially joined the war and the house of Congress approved the move speedily6. After the declaration, most Americans did not receive and embrace the move. Few weeks following the declaration, out of a pool of ten million people, only 73, 000 men volunteered to join the army for the preparation of the war7. By the time the United States joined World War in Apri l 1917, the warfare had been intense in Europe for almost three years. The first instance when the United States contributed to the war was in Marshal FochÃ¢â¬â¢s Allied counter-offensive commenced in July 1917.
